Hank & Ed's quilt

Hank's ma wasn't the best at quilt-making...
(That "prison-stripe" material is kinda jarrin'.)
But her heart was in the right place.

Well I think it is just beautiful and well I would love to snuggle up in that quilt myself. I love old quilts they are so full of love and comfort and stories. The prison fabric well I think it is mighty appropriate since so many gay men feel like they are prisoners in a world that does not want them to come out in the open. So when I looked at this I thought well here we go let's tear up those prison rags and come out in the world but we have to keep the material and make good use of it as a memory of what life was before we came out into the world. Great job on this and thank you for sharing this picture! Joe

I am really so blind to what is right in front of me sometimes... Your interpretation of the prison-stripe material is so amazing. Here I was thinking that Hank had no idea what kind of family secret might be behind those prison stripes, when really he and Ed were the ones living that secret and living out that prison term for so many years. Thanks Joe.
