Love your montages. Especially liked the 'tank' comments. You - er I mean Hank and Ed always make me LOL.
Merry Christmas xxx
Hey! Tanks! (Sorry... that was bad.) Don't blame Hank for this... We take turns. He writes the actual chapters, I do this stuff. Glad it made you laugh! I admit, I had to restrain myself a bit with the tank stuff... (For Ed and Hank's sake.)
Merry Christmas back atcha xxx
I just love your "travelogues"! They are just incredible. (Btw, I would have voted for getting the cast iron dutch oven as a gift for Iris. I for one can't seem to cook on/with anything *but* cast iron.)
Thanks! Yeah, cast iron is great. Maybe we'll go back and look for something a little smaller in cast iron for Iris. Glad you like the travelogues! I tend to get a little carried away with them...
I want a "visible Cow"! That blue, yellow & brown shirt with the horses was just wrong! your travelogue cracked me up. (wonder what the store owner thought about you taking all these pictures....)
Hey... That yellow and brown shirt with horses was my favorite! ;D No, you're right, it was just wrong! I went back to check on the "visible cow" for you, but they were sold out. (sorry...) As to taking all the pictures, I'm sure I'm now on some kind of "watch list". Well, I most likely was before, but I bet my name's been bumped to the top of the list now. The restaurant was the hardest, 'cause it was really kind of crowded. I had to ask people if they minded if I took pictures of the John Wayne pictures over their heads. :D The people in the boot store clearly thought we were lunatics. The only time I was approached in the big store was when I was taking pictures of the dead animals. Some guy thought I was taking the pictures 'cause I liked hunting so much. (???) He then told me a very long and very confusing story about his daughter and fishing(?!?)...

Re: Visible Cow
oh my God, I am laughing so hard at your experience??? I can't believe you had the chutzpah to do this...you are killing me. (wiping tears of laughter out of eyes)
dang it! I'm laughing so hard I'm not logged in. sorry
It's all true. (Including the Visible Cow being sold out, although that wasn't specifically why I went back.) But I must confess, these pictures weren't nearly as hard to take as the Sheep Festival pictures. Some of those took more chutzpah than I thought I had in me... Especially the picture of the fella with the "whip me, tie me..." t-shirt. I ended up chasing this poor guy down (through the mud) and making him pose for me -- "Hold your lasso out. Now hold it up a little higher..."
Oh, my! These are always laugh out loud funny!
So, Bill likes fringe, huh? I'd best be goin shoppin' again. I'm aimin' to get me some a' them boots, too. Been lookin' all over.
Where'd you say that store was? Y'all always go to the fun places.
Thanks for makin' my day again. Got a smile that won't quit now.
Hey Joan, Glad it made you laugh! "Where'd you say that store was?" Why, that store's in town, of course... Downtown to be more specific. Can't miss it. ;D If you're aiming to get yerself some boots you'd better come here! Hint: Our town was named after a tree that does not grow here and never did. (I swear...)
Hmmm. Is that an invitation?
Well I want to go shopping with Ed and Hank. It is so ironic you showed us this, my partner and I were searching for a good boots store and found a nice one half way between here and Buffalo and bought ourselves some hats, shirts, boots and well yes even a Lasso for ourselves and heck I don't own a horse anymore so you put two and two together. LOL I love the Christmas display really, really nice. On the Marshall Fields thing again don't forget to try the Iced tea it is the best. Black currant tea very very good for iced tea. Joe
Hey Joe, Hank and I will definitely try to drag Ed down to Marshall Fields for the black currant iced tea - sounds great! (Well, I can only speak for me and Hank, not Ed...) Wish I could see your hats/shirts/boots. And of, course, love that you bought a lasso. I simply can't imagine what use you'd have for it if you don't own a horse... (LOL)
I just LOVED this one. Love how you incorporate photos for telling what Hank and Ed did
happy holidays to you too
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it. (I know I tend to get carried away sometimes.) Hope you're having a better day today. :)
Thanks, well aside from the bus never showing. I'm doing okay so far. wish I was with Hank and Ed
I wish I was with Ed and Hank too. They went off somewhere without me today... Hope you got where you needed to get to.
nope I never did :( (it was to the post office to send out some holiday stuff. I'll have to do that on Mon I guess)
Oh, I completely agree with Hank -- that is THE shirt for Ed!
Too bad Ed isn't really into holiday gift giving, because I have the perfect suggestion (Better cover Hank's eyes):
Get'em one of those singing fish on a plaque that were so popular a few years back.... First time I ever saw one, I thought it was just one of those fishing trophy things. I nearly jumped out of my skin when it MOVED and started singing, "Take me to the Ri-ver...."
Okay, Hank can look again.
I like boots, too. Mid-calf height, suede, not really practical for ranching, but so comfortable. If Iris does a lot of old-fashioned cooking, one of those cast-iron pans would be nice. Actually, Iris would probably like anything her two cowboys get her!
Y'know, Santa riding the firetruck isn't that uncommon; iff'n he was ridin' the TANK-- Then I'd be worried!
Big hugs and smoochies!
Maybe I'll get the singing fish for Ed and Hank! They must sell singing fish somewhere 'round these parts. I'm like Bill, I like fringe. A lot. Though I don't wear it. Maybe I should start... I love cast iron too. Maybe Ed and Hank will buy Iris something along those lines, but you're right, she does like anything Ed and Hank give her. I was wondering about the fire truck and Santa. It's always been the tradition here, but I wasn't sure if it was in other towns too. Good to know it is. I'll let you know if Santa shows up on the tank next year...
Oh boy! I love these! Ed and Hank sure do get around. I think they should get Iris a shirt from Rockmount. That's a good gift. :) And it's a shirt! They could carry on tradition.
I hope Ed and Hank don't get stopped by the po-po!
Hey, love the shirt from Rockmount idea! And that it's in keeping with the shirt traditon. I think Iris would really like one of those vintage ones. And since we have to go through Denver on our way to Chicago it should be no problem stopping... I already looked up where they are. Should be real easy to find. Glad you liked this and the previous chapter too. Hoping to post part 3 of this chapter before we leave.
Your photographs were so interesting, especially all those boots lined up, I have never seen anything like it.
I think this is the first virtual shopping trip I have on been on and shopping with Hank is a lot of fun.
