Some of the Postcards Hank sent Ed, Part 1.

Love letters...

The chapter these go with is here, part 9: http://myeyesaintblue.livejournal.com/3719.html

Some of "them other ones"  that embarrassed Ed will be posted in a few days.

Hope they look okay.  (Of course they're old and faded anyway.)   I can't tell for sure because my computer monitor is fizzling out and the color isn't very good.  Think I've lost red completely.

Hank didn't always write suggestive comments on the cards, just now and then and usually just on his favorites.  I'm Including some of them here.

"It's a test of your strength, All your power demanding
But you're amply repaid, When you make such a landing"

(This  the first postcard Hank ever sent Ed.   Written on the back:  "Hey Ed, Havin’ a terrible time. Wish you were here. Got one a your shirts by mistake. Gonna hang onto it. Love that shirt. Always will.’”)

1:  "My ASS-ociates and I Send You Our Greetings"
(Hank didn't add anything to this card besides "Havin a terrible time.  Wish you were here."  He was tempted to cross out "ociates" but figured Ed would think that was going too far.)

"West Texas Working Cowboy, Rear View" -  "Time Out to Roll His Own!"
(Written on the back:
"Hey Ed, Havin a terrible time.   Wish you were here.  Think I seen this guy somewhere before.  Kinda looks llike a real good friend a mine from Wyoming.")

"Fishing is Great"
(This one broke Ed's already broken heart.  But it was probably the one he looked at most often back then.  Hank thinks this one is really Ed's favorite.  I know it's mine.  Written on the back:
"Hey Ed, Havin a terrible time.  Wish you were here.  P.S.  Dont this look like the best place in the world?")

(Yep, Hank even found a postcard of sheep.  Written on the back:  "Hey Ed, Havin a terrible time.  Wish you were here.  Never thought I'd miss tendin sheep so bad.")

"Dudes or Cowpunchers  .  .  .  .  .  .  Which?"
(Or gay cowboys?  Definitely gay cowboys.   Written on the back:  "Hey Ed, Havin a terrible time.  Wish you were here.  Think that guys pointin at some sweet ranch.  Gonna have that someday.")

"West Texas Cowboy Riding a Jack Rabbit"
Written on the back:  "Hey Ed, Havin a terrible time.  Wish you were here.  Sure ride some interestin critters down here.  Course we rode some pretty excitin things in Wyoming too.")

(You can see why Ed didn't like the rodeo postcards.  Written on the back:  "Hey Ed, Havin' a terrible time.  Wish you were here.  Had a lot better luck stayin on that buckin bronc I rode in Wyoming.  Just held on real tight.")

"Home on the Range"
(Written on the back:  "Hey Ed, Havin a terrible time.  Wish you were here.  Pretty fancy when your used ta takin a bath in a creek.  Ha! Ha!")

This is such a neat idea! My mother collects old postcards, so I immediately knew they were authentic. I just love your story and everything you are doing!

Love these!

Oh, these are so lovely. I found myself laughing and getting choked up at the same time. Whatever trouble you had to go through to get these on your LJ was worth it. I enjoyed them immensely, as I do your story. Thanks you!!

Re: Love these!

Thanks! Glad you liked them and the story. It was easy to do once I figured it out the first time. I'm having scanner problems now... but can put more up when that gets figured out.

Thanks Whatthefuckbenj!

I had a blast putting them up. Can't take credit for what's written on the back -- just copied it off. ;)

Those are great! It's incredible how well they fit both your fanfic and the original story. I'll never look at old postcards the same way!

OH these are just awesome! Did the postcards inspire the fic or did the fic remind you that you had the postcards? Either way, they're just perfect! And I love the recurring 'having a terrible time, wish you were here' phrase. Says it all while saying nothing incriminating at all! You are a genius!!!

These are fabulous and the comments suit them perfectly, although they are very sad too. I'm even more keen to see "them other ones" that make Ed blush ;0) Thanks for sharing these with us.

Perfect, these are absolutely perfect! What Hank wrote on them is perfect! Ed must have treasured each and every one. Getting new one in the mail must have made his day each time.

Hi City Girl!

Thanks! I always appreciate your comments. And you're right, it really gave Ed something to look forward to. And kept Hank on his mind, which is exacty what Hank wanted. ;)

Well Did You Ever

Did you ever imagine that you'd be using your antique post card collection in such a creative way!? I do see these old postcards in antique stores if people want to begin their own collection. That Hank gets extra points for "creative use" of postcards, and for being persistant. I know he's amply rewarded; got Ed for his very own, after all. But he worked it just right. So happy for them.

Re: Well Did You Ever

Thanks! Hank always likes getting those "extra points". Glad you like the postcards. Should be posting more soon. Worried "them other ones" might be a bit too graphic for Ed and Hank. We'll see... ;D

"Ed for his very own" All Hank ever wanted!

Of course you can have copies of any you'd like! Somehow I think you're gonna want that south view of that cowboy facing north....

I'm going to be putting up part two of the postcards later today probably. (Or tomorrow.) So you may want to wait and see if you'd like any of those too.

Still very new to all this. I have them all saved as jpeg files at high, but not maximum resolution. Is that o.k.? Easy enough to re-scan if it's not. May have to anyway, 'cause I think some of them are a bit tilted.

I assume the way to do it is to email them to you as an attachment(?) Let me know if there's any other way I don't know about... My email is myeyesaintblue@yahoo.com
