"Tha'SupremeCourtrefusedtahearUtah'sappeal'NIthoughttha'meantwe'dbeputonhold'tiltheydidbutitdon'tIt meanswe'refer-reallegal-like'NothergayfolksinUtahcangethitchedif'ntheywannatoo...!!!

"Slow down, Hank...  I can't understand wha' the hell yer sayin'..."

"C'mon, I'll explain it on the way..."

"Hey... Take it easy on my arm, wouldya...? 'N by the way... the way where...?"

"Our bedroom..."

"Hold on, Romeo... I gotta lotta work ta do..."

"No. Ya don't.   We're married...!"

"I know, dumbass.  I was there.  Remember...?"

"I mean legal-like... Fer real 'n fer always...!!! I just heard... Tha' Supreme Court... They refused ta hear Utah's appeal... 'N I thought tha'd mean we'd be put in limbo waitin' 'til they did agree ta hear it... But it don't mean that at all... It means tha' 10th Circuit Court's rulin' STANDS... 'N our marriage is legal-like fer real 'n fer always... 'N any other gay folks in Utah... 'n in some other states too... can get hitched legal-like if'n they wanna... It's over here... It's legal...  So's we got us some good ol' consummatin' ta take care of... Again..."

'cause even though it woulda been a helluva lot better if'n tha' Supreme Court had heard them appeals 'n settled it once 'n fer all fer this whole damn country... like they shoulda had the guts ta do... least-wise they sent a clear message that equal civil marriage rights is gonna be the law a the land... 'n sooner not later... Damn, jus' damn... Hold on... I gotta put some music on..."

"Ooomph... Watch that elbow a yers... Hey... You ain't puttin' tha' Tabernacle choir on again, are ya...?"

"No way... I don't even wanna think about them ta day... It'll jus' make me mad 'cause I know the next fight'll be them wantin' it ta be legal fer religious bigots ta discriminate 'gainst us in their businesses 'n whatnot... 'N I wanna celebrate ta day... not be mad 'bout nothin'..."

"Good.  But... What's takin' ya so long...?"

"This caught me by s'prise... 'N since it ain't legal-like all over the U.S. yet...  like I thought it would be when we'd be celebratin' again...  I wanna wait ta play the song I wanted ta put on fer that...  So's... I don't know wha' the hell song ta put on now... Wait a sec... Yeah... I think this here one'll do jus' fine..."

"Guess it'd be too much ta ask fer a country song..."

"Yep.  'Baby I'm yooours... 'N I'll be yers 'til the stars fall from the skyyyyyy... Yers until the rivers all run dryyy... In other words until I diiie... I'm gonna stay right here by your side... Do my best ta keep ya satisfied...  Nothin' in this world can drag me away... 'N everyday you'll hear me say... Baby I'm yooooooours'..."

"Yer fin'lly mine, huh...?"

"Yep. Legal-like I am all yers... Head ta toe... toe ta head... 'n ev'rythin' in between...

"Hmmm... Maybe I didn't think all this through well 'nough... I ain't real fond a tha' big left toe a yers..."

"C'mere, dumbass... a.ka. Mr. Edward Smith-Jones fer real-like... 'n this time fer sure fer real fer always 'n ferever..."

"You got it, dumbass... a.k.a. Mr. Henry Smith-Jones fer real-like 'n what all else ya said..."

"I sure as hell do got it... all of it..."

"So's... 'xactly wha' the hell is wrong with my big left toe...?"

This is the best bit of news of the decade =D
I hope there will be a (new) rush of marriages. The best will be seeing same-sex couples queuing up with different-sex couples...
I sure hope we'll be getting on over here too!
Hug Ed&Hank for me, will you?

It sure as hell is!!! And now there is absolutely positively no doubt about what will happen with the rest of the country, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Consider Ed and Hank hugged! And hugs right backatcha from them too.

And I second that "Whoooopee!" and throw in a Yee haw!

Thank you! And it sure is wonderful news! And Hank sure can't wait to celebrate equal civil marriage rights across the whole country here - He's hoping that's sooner rather than later too.

sorry I missed celebrating this day with you. Not sure if I told you Pat and I became legal on August 15, 2014 in our back yard shed with my only our 4 best friends. Sharon is an ordained minister in the spiritualist community of Lily dale. Look it up if you like. She and her wife Heidi who we stood for in Mass a few years ago. Also our friends Stephen and Adam who are also married and we stood up for in New York a year before. It was a nice quiet wonderful evening in our yard with all of our flowers and gardens around. A nice simple 4 minute affair and dinner. Our families were hurt and upset but adjusting. They were disappointed we did not do the big blow out wedding but after 19 years together we just wanted it to be us. Heidi, Sharon, Adam and Stephen wer needed to make legal and witness but it was just Pat and I and we loved it. We did not go away until actually the 4th of October we went into the mountains of PA and celebrated finally being together for real and all. It was all wonderful and I am with you I never saw a tide change so fast and I'm so grateful I have lived to see it since I never in my wildest dreams thought it would actually happen. I'm still pushing for all of those other states to get their head out of the sand but it seems each day things get a little brighter. Thank you so much for your stories this is an amazaing day getting back to where I belong. Joe

Re: sorry

CONGRATULATIONS!!! And the best of wishes to you and Pat!!! You had mentioned that was the plan, and it sounds like it was a really great evening. I can understand your families wanting a big blowout, but I also can understand you wanting it to be just you two. (And, of course, Ed is right there with you on wanting to keep it small.)

And we were there celebrating with you, in spirit, just like you were there with Ed and Hank in spirit too!

Speaking of spirits, I own a book on Lily Dale that I've been meaning to read for forever - It sounds like an absolutely fascinating community. I will take this as a serendipitous reason to try and find it and start reading.

And here's to the rest of the states following suit sooner rather than later too!
